Yikes! Summer Camp

NEW YORK - Summer
camp is a rite of passage for millions of kids. It's a time for kids
and parents to separate for a few weeks and re-establish their own
identity.
But, as Early Show Contributor Lisa
Birnbach found out, absence doesn't just make the heart grown
fonder; it can make a mother very anxious.
Though Lisa says she enjoyed going to camp as a kid and believes
in camp, sending her son Sam to sleep-away camp for the first time
wasn't as easy she thought.
At Kamp Kohut, after a quick bunk inspection and a hearty
breakfast, campers spent their days learning how to stand on their
own two feet or tack a course toward independence from mom and dad.
The rituals of camp haven't changed but technology is giving
anxious parents some peace of mind. Ari Ackerman, a former camper
himself, started Bunk1.com. A Web site host for over 600 camps that
allows camp owners like Lisa Tripler of Kamp Kohut, to upload up to
75 pictures a day of the campers so parents can see their child in
action.
